I can’t quite remember how we met however what impressed me most about Alicia was her commitment to helping others overcome the barriers to business success. Tell me a little about you, your lifestyle and what you are passionate about? I am a home-body and a workaholic, but I love both. In addition to running 2 businesses, I homeschool my 5 year old son… and my ‘hobby’ is reading and studying personal and business development.
So tell me about your business?
I have 2 businesses: My coaching and consulting practice involves working with entrepreneurs on everything business related – from Mindset to Marketing. My newest business is in the development stage, Tokinu, which is an innovative online security
What inspired you to make the decision to create your own business?
I strongly disliked working for other people. I had the entrepreneurial bug when I was a
teenager, so it was only natural that I would dabble in different businesses at an early age.
However, I didn’t become successful until I was 28. At the time I was managing a cellphone store and working as an EFT practitioner part-time. To my surprise I got pregnant. I could not stand the thought of sending my baby off to daycare… so I committed to creating a successful business that would enable me to raise my child on my own terms. That is when I founded Wausau Hypnotherapy LLC, which has since evolved into a global coaching and consulting business (now DBA Alicia Cramer Coaching).
Has there always been a burning desire inside you to create this, or did your business evolve from your original idea?
Where I am today has been a process of evolution. I never imagined I’d be where I am today.
What did/do you find to be the most challenging part of your business?
They say we need to be the change we wish to see in the world. Perhaps what is most
frustrating for me is KNOWING we (humanity) have the power and potential to live in a
more conscious and harmonious world – one where we all fulfill our passion and potential;
yet, we are forced to work within and amongst systems that are disempowering, limiting
and in many cases based on corruption and control. I see a lot of discouraged business
owners. A lot of people struggling; which makes my heart heavy. I know that feeling all
too well. That is the most challenging part of my business, I want to help everyone, but
everyone has their own journey and there is no magic wand in life or business.
What have you learned about yourself during the process of setting up your
I learned that I am a lot smarter and more disciplined than I thought. LOL
Truthfully, this journey has been a massive process of self-growth for me. As we push
beyond our old patterns and limitations, we are forced to confront fears and beliefs that
don’t serve us. I’ve learned that we never get it done. You have to enjoy the process or you will never feel fulfilled.
What advice would you give someone considering starting their own business?
Read and learn about successful business owners. There are a lot of misconceptions about successful people and success in business. A lot of people start a business with the idea that if they build it, the customers will come. When they realize that is not typically what happens, most people get discouraged and give up. By reading biographies of those who’ve achieved success, you’ll be mentally prepared for the road ahead.
What products and services do you provide?
As a business coach and consultant I have 2 facets of my business; the first is the coaching element, including my advanced training as a hypnotherapist and in subconscious reconditioning. Entrepreneurs seek me out when they are tired and frustrated with an old issue adversely affecting their quality of life. That could include fears, insecurities, or anxiety issues.
The other facet of my business is consulting. This is a very different type of service where I help business owners with their business and marketing strategy.
And now there is my newest company Tokinu, which is an online security product designed to protect your accounts from the growing issue with hacking and online scams.
What is the greatest success story for your business?
I’ve had the amazing privilege of many cool things over the years. I’ve been on TV, radio
and even contacted out of the blue by Forbes Magazine. But I have to say that the greatest success of all is being able to work from home, control my schedule and raise my son the way I want to. That for me is the greatest success I could have ever hoped to accomplish.

I’m a total Collagen Colway convert and thanks to Maria I now only have one chin and glowing skin. I injured my upper arm last xmas and its taken so long to heal, since taking the collagen supplements its really speeded up the healing process and now almost have my full range of motion back as couldn’t put my arm behind my back without absolute agony.
Tell me a little about you, your lifestyle and what you are passionate about? I’m a mum of 2 great and talented kids – 24-year old daughter, Olga, and 14-year old son, Greg, both living with me. I have a fabulous and very supportive partner, Michael, also a business person, which makes things so much easier, as we really understand each other. My business Collagen Colway is my true passion and it has grown out of my dreams of independence and flexibility. Being a beginner entrepreneur and a mum does not leave whole lot of space during the day to do other things, but my second passion is NLP and I am committed to developing my skills. It really opens my mind and heart to other people and helps me to understand and communicate with the world and myself(!) at a higher level. I also love travelling and I am happy to explore new places, even round the corner.
So tell me about your business, who/what is Collagen Colway all about? My company Colway UK is a direct sales organisation distributing anti-ageing products. Our main one is pure, natural bioactive Collagen which is a great Polish invention and I am honoured and happy to manage to make the product available in the UK. My business operates globally through a network of independent partners and most of them sell our products on part-time basis, generating a second income stream. But I am really proud my company differs so much from other DS/MLM companies by offering a genuine flexibility, honesty and no hard sale approach.
What inspired you to make the decision to create your own business? It was triggered by a few factors that coincided. First of all, I simply loved Collagen. I was truly impressed with the results on my skin and amazed that such a quality product was not popular in other countries. At that time I was made redundant from the university I had worked for nearly 10 years, still leaving me with some income from the translation agency I was running, but with doubts if I manage to maintain my family. And lastly, I thought I wanted a dramatic change in my life. I was open for new experiences and I really needed some fresh air to breath.
Has there always been a burning desire inside you to create this, or did your business evolve from your original idea? My business reflects my philosophy of life that has always been part of me – flexibility and independence. And I had had it on my mind for a long time, but quite surprisingly, my business happens to be a sales organisation and selling as such is absolutely new to me.
What did/do you find to be the most challenging part of your business? The very beginning was definitely the most challenging. When I came to the UK 5 years ago, although my head was buzzing with ideas and my motivation was skyrocketing, I only knew one person, my sister, who became my business partner. So, I realised that a good will is not all you need, and I had to get suppliers, legal and accounting services as well as find out about legal requirements, and most importantly, find my first distributors who also believed in me and my new product. Without a network of friends and family it was a really difficult task.
What have you learned about yourself during the process of setting up your business? I have simply discovered a totally new person in me. I have managed to overcome lots of personal limitations, get out of my comfort zone, and push myself to do things that I wouldn’t have been able to do if I hadn’t set up my own business.
What advice would you give someone considering starting their own business? That it will take twice as much time and effort as the person believes, but it will open the whole new world and unblocks their true potential, and this is what life is about.

So tell me about your business, who/what is Smart Woman Academy all about?
In my business Smart Woman Academy, I work with female entrepreneurs and their souls in their quest to be the best they can possibly be whilst balancing their inner and outer worlds. I provide sound, real and implementable business coaching with intuitive support (including tools like Tarot for Business) to help release whatever is holding them back and keeping their abundance and joy locked away. I support women to uncover their soul purpose and put them on the path to success, growth and transformation.
What inspired you to make the decision to create your own business? I became inspired when I was working in my previous career (HR), and saw first hand how women were allowing themselves to be bullied at work. One lady in particular was regularly off work with mental health problems – and was very unhappy. To me it looked like she had chained herself to her desk. When she saw that I was about to leave HR to begin coaching and working with female entrepreneurs, she said to me – “If I had my time again, I would have been an actress and had my own beauty salon” As she spoke this normally sullen depressed woman – lit up and had real passion in her eyes and voice! I asked her why didn’t she do that now. She shrank back and said “oh I couldn’t possibly” “it’s too late” and “I have this golden pension waiting for me”. That one conversation gave me the inspiration to work with women, create a business and vow never to hear those words – “if I had my time again” from any woman.
Has there always been a burning desire inside you to create this, or did your business evolve from your original idea? I have always wondered why people get into cars/trains every day to go to places they don’t want to be and work with people they wouldn’t choose. So I think there was a germ of an idea, that for me it would be different and then I would help others break free from that kind of living.
What did/do you find to be the most challenging part of your business? I am very passionate and know the transformation I can produce in women, however sometimes articulating that can be difficult. So promoting myself and becoming more visible with the work that I do has been a slower process than I would like. I also had a challenge “coming out” with my Tarot for Business work. I know just how enlightening the Tarot can be, but I couldn’t have guessed how popular it was going to be.
What have you learned about yourself during the process of setting up your business? I have learned how strong I am and how resilient. I won’t let anything stop me achieving my dreams to grow Smart Woman Academy.
What advice would you give someone considering starting their own business? First and foremost who you are, why you really want to go into business and that your “product” is not the main part of your business.
Don’t underestimate how long it is going to take, and that the main skills you should acquire are Marketing, Relationship building, Authentic Selling and that rejection is part of the deal.

This month’s WOW Woman is Julia Barnickle – founder of The Quiet Entrepreneur . I first met Julia when she joined my Grow Your Tribe 30 Day Challenge Group and she stood out for me. Julia shares some sage advice on the challenges of running your own business and how introverts in business can market themselves for success.
Tell me a little about you, your lifestyle and what you are passionate about? I’m an introvert and a “Scanner” – I have lots of interests… I love to travel (as long as there’s a comfy bed, and hot and cold running water!). I love learning languages, writing, singing, taking photographs – and I’ve recently started taking videos too. I’m not a great planner – I prefer to “take life as it comes”, staying open to whatever opportunities might present themselves. Before starting my business, I worked in corporate IT, project managing, developing and implementing business software around the world. The best part of the job was being paid to travel. I live with my husband in a cosy little house just outside London, and dream of the day when my bio reads: “Julia divides her time between London, Florence and the South of France” – or something equally scintillating. In August 2013, after being diagnosed with Breast Cancer for the third time in five years, I helped form the Sing To Beat Breast Cancer Choir. We recorded a charity single, backing classical singers Camilla Kerslake and Blake, to raise funds for the Breast Cancer Campaign, and performed the song live at various prestigious venues, including on daytime TV!
So tell me about your business, who/what is The Quiet Entrepreneur all about? The Quiet Entrepreneur helps introverts to take pride in who they are, instead of being made to feel like failed extroverts, and to build a successful business in a way that plays to their individual strengths and honours their introversion.
What inspired you to make the decision to create your own business? I was inspired by a TED talk that Susan Cain did, about introverts, and by reading her book: “Quiet: The Power Of Introverts In A World That Can’t Stop Talking”. Suddenly, I understood why I hated going networking and making cold calls! I started The Quiet Entrepreneur so that other introverts wouldn’t have to put up with people telling them to market themselves like an extrovert.
Has there always been a burning desire inside you to create this, or did your business evolve from your original idea? When I first decided to start a business, I didn’t have a clue what I wanted to do. I just knew that, after 20 years in a corporate career, I wanted the freedom of working for myself rather than being an employee. It took me nearly two years to commit to any sort of direction, and the business has been evolving ever since. I started off as a life coach and web designer, and pretty soon I realised that I wanted to help small business owners to fulfil their dreams of making a difference in the world. It all fell into place when I decided to support introverts in business, in 2013.
What did/do you find to be the most challenging part of your business? Before I started the Quiet Entrepreneur, I used to find it difficult to promote the business, because I didn’t have a clear message or tribe – so it seemed as though I was promoting myself, which felt a bit self-serving and arrogant. Now I’m on a mission, which makes it easier to promote the message without feeling pushy. There are still times when I get a bit *shy*, when I forget that promoting the business and being successful is not about me – it’s for the benefit of the people I can help.
What have you learned about yourself during the process of setting up your business? I’ve realised that I have more staying power than I ever thought – it’s been a long, hard road to where I am now, and it’s not all plain sailing yet. I’ve learned that the more I’m prepared to talk about the mistakes I’ve made, the more interesting and believable my story becomes, for the people who are following in my footsteps. I’ve also realised that my love of learning has stood me in good stead when it comes to implementing various marketing methods to promote the business.
What advice would you give someone considering starting their own business? Building a business takes time – so, unless you absolutely hate your job, avoid jumping ship to start your business. It’s much easier to attract clients if you have some form of financial security – it means you don’t have to push, or take on less-than-ideal clients, out of desperation. If you do leave your job, perhaps find some part-time work so that you can keep up with your rent or mortgage payments while your business grows. Be prepared for your business to evolve – even if you’re providing more or less the same service as you were in your job. And remember that your business is not about you – it’s about the people you are helping.
What products and services do you provide? I offer individual mentoring, support and advice for introverts in business around mindset and marketing topics, including:
- creating digital products and on-line programmes
- promoting the business authentically through speaking, writing and blogging
- internet marketing and social media marketing

What is the greatest success story for your business? Content IS king, it is true. If you’re not developing new content at least every month and then sharing it in many different ways to drive leads and traffic to your business and your website then you’re missing out on thousands of dollars in revenue.
- When you have more articles or blog posts on your website, you will organically drive more traffic to your site.
- When you have video tips and business tips on social media sites and YouTube too, you will get more exposure and you will have a farther reach for new prospects.
- When you hold your own teleclasses or become a guest on other calls and radio shows or programs you will be seen more as the expert you are.
All of this doesn’t have to be hard. In fact pretty much everything I mention above here is absolutely FREE to do in your marketing. This article is not about showing you how to develop the new content, but it is about what to do with that content once you have it so you can get more exposure, traffic, leads and sales.
So why are you not doing this more often in your business?
Usually what I find is that you aren’t sure where to get your content posted or how to get it out there. That’s assuming you know what to write or record in the first place. Content repurposing can be a free or low-cost and very lucrative part of your marketing plan if you do it but it does usually take some time which is why most business owners don’t do more of it more often.
Here is a simple 3 step process to repurpose your content whether you have written articles, blog posts, audio recordings, videos or other format.
1: Turn each piece of content into 3 different formats: Take your written content and read it into an audio recorder or free conference phone line so you then have written and audio content of the same info. Or take your audio content and have it transcribed into written format. Same goes for video, transcribe it to written format. Then take your written or audio content and shorten it to create short video tips or trainings. You can turn any piece of content into all three formats and then place them online in various ways for maximum exposure.
2: Develop a list of places where to post or upload your three types of content: You want one list of what to do with the content when you have it so you can be more consistent and efficient in getting this done. Plus you can even delegate this task if you want and all you have to do is develop the content but someone else spends the time repurposing it. Places to post or put your written, audio or video content include the following plus many, many more places depending on your industry or business, look for opportunities that are custom to what you do.
- Your own blog or website
- Your social media websites and profiles
- Free article marketing websites such as ezinearticles.com – there are hundreds of these
- Your email newsletters
- Other people’s email newsletters, websites and blogs – do a trade of content
- Industry or organization websites where you are a member or you belong – many online sites are looking for more content to place on their site to increase their standing and searchability
- Become an expert on a related website that captures subscribers and members that are your target market. For example, Today’s Innovative Woman Magazine allows expert professionals to post articles and more on their website, creating a profile for you and other opportunities as well. Some sites like this are free to submit content, others are for a fee.
- Send out print newsletters via direct mail and include previous email articles
- Solicit print or online newspapers and magazines to see if they would be interested in publishing your content
- The opportunities are endless!
3: Make sure to include trackable links or free offer links to specific offer pages on your website from all of your posted content so you can actually capture the leads: Don’t just post the content, make sure people can find you or click to go to your website with at the very least a quick author bio at the end of an article. On an audio or video you could make more of a special offer but remember to keep it evergreen, not date specific. For example, you don’t want a lot of videos, audios or written content out there that say “Sign up by March 31, 2013 to get this special offer” or after that date they’re not current content anymore and no one will click.
Hopefully that helps get you thinking about how to expand your reach online and offline, on your own and with referral partners who you could trade content with. Trading content is a very good (and FREE) marketing strategy because you each then receive instant credibility via being recommended to by the person posting your content.

Tell me a little about you, your lifestyle and what you are passionate about? Thank you so much for having me Mary! I am an Israeli, born and raised, and have travelled the world quite a lot. It is often said that “people make business with people – not companies.” Almost everything in life and business is about joining forces with other people. Everyone can become good at business friendship-making (networking). I provide tools and techniques to sharpen these skills in face-to-face meetings and online, in order to achieve business goals and get the ultimate results fast and effectively.
What inspired you to make the decision to create your own business?
I am an entrepreneur at heart, and have always come up with ideas for services or products and tried to execute them. I wrote business plans as a teenager, and planned how I was going to create my own business.
I knew I had to learn more and develop relationships in order to create a business. In the past 16 years, I have taken many courses and acquired wisdom from mentors who inspired me. Among them are the incredible Anthony Robbins, Marie Forleo, Itay Paz, Mike Walsh, Nozer Buchia and more. They inspired me and provided me with tools to create my business.
I was also inspired by my friends and acquaintances who kept telling me how my personality, skills, and approach to life had influenced them in a positive way.
I appreciate everyone who was a source of inspiration to me, and who has led me to where I am today.
Has there always been a burning desire inside you to create this, or did your business evolve from your original idea? In my mind’s eye, I always knew my future business’s purpose would be to influence people in a positive way.
I have owned a business in the past as a social entrepreneur where I produced events for social causes. I felt that being in this place of giving and raising awareness for social issues was very fulfilling. I was working with big clients, and I enjoyed it immensely.
However, at some point I got into some difficulties, and things didn’t turn out the way I wanted them to. I lost my motivation and passion, and was upset because I had thought I found my life’s mission until this moment.
Something was missing there, and after a long period of thought and reflection, I decided to go back and find a job, since I wanted to gain more skills and experience.
A year and half later, I met an inspiring person: Mike Walsh, a futurist and a keynote speaker. His interesting business and life story triggered me to realize my destiny and goal in life. My passion for people finally made sense, and my business path was clear to me.
Since then, I have begun a long studding process, and composed my business networking methodologies and concepts. I’ve started spreading these concepts to the world in 2012 through speaking, workshops, writing, blogging, and my business is growing slowly but surely as it is helping others. I love it!
What did/do you find to be the most challenging part of your business? I define challenges as opportunities to learn, develop and improve.
I encounter all sorts of challenges, like many of my fellow business owners, and these are just some of them: The challenge of ongoing improvement and providing even better services and products. The challenge of work and life balance.
What have you learned about yourself during the process of setting up your
business? Building a business is an ongoing process of self-discovery and self-mastery. It’s a great journey to go through!
I learned to be more patient.
I am aware of my thoughts and actions today more than ever.
I learned how to manage my time better.
I learned to set boundaries.
I learned what makes me passionate in life.
I learned how much I enjoy helping others.
I learned that I love learning from people, situations, and sources of information.
…and I am still learning all the time!
What advice would you give someone considering starting his or her own business? The best advice I can give is to believe, believe, believe in your vision and your ability to fulfill it.
Choose to do what you love so you will be able to go long distances with it.
Pick the people that surround you, as their support is important for your success.

What is the greatest success story for your business? My business is about people, and its success is related to my customers. I see success as everything from the smallest positive comment I get to the biggest winning story: how one or many of my techniques and methods helped someone close a deal or achieve a goal. When people share how I helped them succeed I am grateful and motivated!

Tell me a little about you, your lifestyle and what you are passionate about? I’m a business woman, an empty nester and a road warrior. My son is now 30 and my daughter is 19 and in New York City in her second year of college. I’m a proud mother as they are both chasing their dreams and that is the key to happiness. I launched my dating coaching business two years ago and it’s been a joy and a daily learning process to discover what works and what resonates with attracting clients. And finally, I’m passionate about making a difference for the lesbian community. Being a resource for gay women by sharing and teaching them how to make good relationship decisions, which starts with knowing how to date. I also bring a strong focus on working with positive energy, letting go of the past and moving forward as a changing and evolving human being.
So tell me about your business, who/what is Gay Girl Dating Coach all about? Gay Girl Dating Coach helps gay women break through their barriers to finding lasting love by equipping them with tools, techniques and strategies to recognize what a good dating relationship looks like. And great dating is the door to a great relationship.
What inspired you to make the decision to create your own business? I came out later in life and discovered that first off, I knew nothing about how to date and secondly that there is a lot of loneliness, pain and struggle for many women to find a good relationship. I knew there were had to be a better way and I set about figuring that out both for myself and for others. I worked for ten years as a licensed minister in a Christian church, and though I no longer do that work nor follow that religious system, it created a strong faith in me that when we as individuals are supported and loved, we can blossom and learn better ways to live life.
Has there always been a burning desire inside you to create this, or did your business evolve from your original idea? Gay Girl Dating Coach evolved from a series of events in my life including coming out later in life, having to learn how to conquer the dating world as it exists now in the 21st century with so much technology, seeing how women struggled to find a great relationship (me included) and deciding to leave my world as an executive in the nonprofit sector. It all brought me to creating this business to serve women in my community.
What did/do you find to be the most challenging part of your business? The limiting mindsets that I had were the most challenging part of getting my business going and fortunately I’m in charge of me and my mind! So a big focus for me is taking care of how I’m feeling and where my focus is hour by hour every day. I’ve learned to be fully aware of myself first and what’s going on in my head, deliberately focusing on the positive and not letting anything negative creep in and take over. I do believe we are creating our worlds and that means paying attention to what I’m doing with my thoughts and my feelings all the time. It’s powerful and important. Being a solo-preneur can be lonely. When something doesn’t work and there’s no one to talk to but myself about it I discovered after some big disappointments that I’d better conquer my stinking thinking if I want things to work in the business.
What have you learned about yourself during the process of setting up your business? I’ve learned that I’m extremely creative and that I can’t do this alone. Having a team of support people that help me get things done is critical to my being able to really do the work of helping women live their best lesbian lives. I’ve also learned that taking care of myself is extremely important and no one else can do that for me. So I’ve created daily rituals that I follow consistently including meditation, what music I listen to, a daily gratitude journal and a focusing practice that keep me feeling good, focused and strong.
What advice would you give someone considering starting their own business? Plan on things taking longer than you thought. Everything from filling your practice to creating programs to really knowing what your brand and market are about. Plan for that when you sit down and work on budgets and revenue projections. And recognize that you have to pace yourself or else you’ll burn out.
What products and services do you provide? Right now I’m focused on bringing live workshops to women in various states across the USA – I call it the Gay Girl Love Tour. In November I’m in Texas all month bringing workshops to Austin, San Antonio, Dallas and Houston. It’s exciting to get out and work with a group of women who all want to change the way they date and find a great relationship. I love sharing the tools, techniques and strategies that are part of the Gay Girl Love Attraction System. I’ve been working on developing this system for the last two years and I’ve really found the best of the best strategies and tools that any woman (yes straight or gay) can take and put to work to create an amazing love.
The goal is of the Gay Girl Love Tour is two fold; introduce more women to Gay Girl Dating Coach and provide dating workshops to help women kick start their dating in a new and empowered direction.

What is the greatest success story for your business? A client I worked with named Michelle. Her life partner had passed due to cancer and Michelle was having a terrible time trying to find a new relationship after about 3 years. She kept blowing up every relationship she was in due to her fear of being alone, clinginess and extreme emotional swings. Along with that she was sure that she was going to have to sell her house and move 45 minutes away from where she lived to find a new relationship. After working with me for 3 months, she’d finally conquered her fear of being alone and the thing she thought was not possible happened… she met her new life partner who lived two blocks away from her. It’s such a sweet and amazing story because a big limiting belief I hear all the time is that there is no one to date where I live. I have a confession. I stumbled, tripped and fell right into the Dirty Ditch of Self-Doubt where it’s dark and stinky and not fit for any of us.But there I was. Covered in it actually.
You see, the thing about claiming your Badass Visionary and upping the ante on visibility is that you have to put yourself out there. You have to take risks. You have to be willing to be vulnerable and be seen.
So I did. I wrote something up to my tribe and I sent it out. And then… I held my breath a little, refreshed my email 20 times, went on Facebook (aka Time Vampire) and waited.
Nothing happened. I stared at the report. I looked at the open rate, I looked at the clicks and realized I didn’t get a response. No one commented, signed up, checked it out, tweeted, linked, or responded. Two people unsubscribed. Of course, this comes on a day when I burned dinner, drove my son to the dentist on the wrong day and also realized that my friend’s birthday was actually yesterday and I had missed it.
I found myself smack dab in the middle of the Dirty Ditch of Self-Doubt. And who was there with me? My Good Girl Gremlin along with Patty Pity Party.
“Just look at how pathetic you are. You have nothing important to say. No one cares. You’re writing clearly isn’t good enough or compelling.You make no difference. When are you going to just give up? You aren’t getting anywhere. You are just another boring voice among millions. You suck.”
(Side note: I’d like to officially nominate my Good Girl Gremlin for an academy award for best performance in a drama.)
So I laid there, feeling sorry for myself, doubting what I was doing, and allowing my energy, my power and my spark to begin fading out.
** cue superhero music and add a purple badass cape**
And just in time my Wise Woman Within swooped in and gave me some tools to get me back on track.
First, she gave me a Towel to wipe off the doubt. We all get dirty when we fall into the ditch. That residue is strong and sticky and likes to hide our worth. But with our Wise Woman towel we can wipe it off to reveal the truth: Our worth isn’t eroded by anything external. I am not lessened by a lack of response. Our worth is intrinsic. We are sacred divine beautiful beings and no perception of judgements, missteps, failures, or frustrations can change that. We realize that those perceptions of rejection are not attached to our worth and perhaps a mirror for how we are actually feeling inside. Our inner golden light lives inside of us whether we choose to feel bad about where we are or see the blessings in it.
Then she gave me a ladder because when you are sitting at the bottom of a ditch, its hard to see the possibilities. You have to climb up higher outside of yourself to see the big picture. Maybe I just needed to experiment with when I send the emails, maybe I didn’t make the call to action strong enough, maybe the message wasn’t being sent to the right people, maybe I needed to have the writing proofread. When I stood up on the ladder, I could see beyond the feeling of never wanting to write again. It meant that I had an opportunity to strengthen my core, re-evaluate, and learn. It was actually a learning experience to make me better at what I do.
And lastly my Wise Woman played some music (yes, it was Adam Levine, my official rocker crush) that got me dancing- got me connected and opened my heart. Being in the Dirty Ditch of Self Doubt doesn’t get me closer to what I want in my life. It doesn’t serve my purpose. It doesn’t help anyone else. It just makes me and everyone around me miserable. Knowing deeply that the world loses if any one of us gives up on our dream and our courageous vulnerability. So as the music played, I got reconnected to what I want to do, who I want to be and how I want to do it. I revisited my Badass Vision and formed a new plan.
And with my towel, my ladder and my inner soul music, I climbed out of that Dirty Ditch, recommitted to being who I am, staying courageous and vulnerable, and keeping my dreams alive.
Bye Bye Doubt, Hello Badass Vision.
